A good friendship automatically turns back the clock of age. With the right people surrounding me I reverse to the chaos kid stage that was my strength for years. Urban or not, everybody knows how that feels like.

I would like to portray the downsides of today‘s meritocracy in a movie. The negative excrescences that I am referring to are phenomena seen in villages as well as metropolises, so I am not biased towards provinciality or urbanity.

My introvert character values the anonymity that a big town brings. I realized early that there is more that distinguishes Bern from Berlin than the L and the I, and that makes me feel urban.

いい友達関係って、年齢の時計の針を自動的に昔に戻してくれるよね。自分の周りにいるそういった人たちのおかげで、なんでもありだった子供の頃に戻ることができるんだ。そういったことが長年にわたって僕の強みだったんだ。「urban」かどうかっていうよりも、みんなこれがどんな気分か分かるよね。

僕は、今の時代の実力主義のマイナス面を映画に収めたいんだ。僕のいうマイナスな邪魔物ってのは、田舎でも都会でも見られる現象だから、地方的とか都会的とかに対する偏見っていうものではないんだ。

僕みたいな内向的な性格には、大きな都市が持ちあわせる匿名性がとても大切なんだ。Lとlの違いより、ベルンとベルリンの違いの方が大きいってことは、随分前から気づいていたんだけどね。そういったことが自分を「urban」って感じさせるのかな。
